WT books thrown into the dumpster...

for the last few weeks i have been pretty busy as we were moving to a new house.

my wife did most of the packing but when it came to the move, i realized that there are things we own that we had forgotten about because we haven't used them for years!

on top of the list was old wt publications that no longer contain the "truth" and publications available on the wt cd.

on internet forums such as these, it is to be expected that there will be people who want to save jw's.

esp from (thinking for) themselves.. however, the real dillema's facing an ex jw who leaves, whether on their own terms or being disfellowshipped are real and haven't changed.. .

lonliness, how to make friends, is a big issue.. fear, esp fear based on superstition, a fear of god and of the future that is not in any way based in proveable fact.. education, how to think and reason critically to avoid being taken advantage of is a big challenge.. love, sex, and how to navigate your way around all of that hot mess.. geez, yeah, forgot.

I lurked for awhile before joing this site. It was and is comforting to see a bunch of people who understand JW culture and lingo and beliefs and attitudes, and who have the same (or similar) problems with them. This site has helped a lot, and I like it very much. I'm glad I joined.

i have just skimmed it, but the parts i've read are laughable!

they talk about how "complete control" is unscriptural and "usually backfires!

" i guess that doesn't apply to the gb controlling it's jw subjects.

It is very amusing the way they write these little scenarios. So unrealistic, that I find it a bit insulting to my inteligence.

i prayed to him for years and years and received no response.

I have to say...after praying for years for help for my feelings of depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, cutting, nightmares, ect...I didn't get any help. I also prayed for some sign, and didn't get that. I did finally meet a great NON-JW, non-religious man, though, so if god helped me with that, then that would be kind of funny.
